Brooklyn, NY (September 7, 2021) – Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, September 7, a child was injured in a car crash in Brooklyn.
According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of East 92nd Street and Kings Highway. Police confirmed that a Ford Explorer was headed south when it attempted to make a left turn at the intersection. This caused the Explorer to collide with a Range Rover that was headed northbound through the intersection.
Due to the severity of the crash, the 9-year-old child was ejected from the Explorer. Paramedics and numerous other responders were quickly called to the scene. The girl broke both of her legs and suffered from severe head trauma. Four other people among the vehicles sustained injuries as well. They have since been identified as a 28-year-old woman, two 46-year-old women, and a 40-year-old man.
The 53-year-old male driver in the Explorer was taken into police custody. He has since been charged with driving intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
